      CURRENT FACILITY          ACHIEVEMENTS

The Edmonton Convention Centre, a model of environmental responsibility and visionary design, spans 150,000 square feet and was established in 1983 with a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. The venue's distinctive sloping glass atrium, housing 696 solar panels, generates 200 MW hours of solar energy annually, illuminating the space with natural daylight. Emphasizing waste reduction, the facility achieved a notable 62% diversion rate in 2022 and holds certifications like 'BOMA BEST', 'Green Key Global Meetings' and 'Climate Smart.'

Remarkably, the venue achieved a 31% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 compared to the 2018 baseline. Enhancing its eco-friendly features, the center boasts a significant indoor plant collection for improved air quality, public-facing reporting on indoor and outdoor air quality, a beehouse, water-efficient low-flow toilets, and sensor-controlled faucets. The commitment to sustainability extends to consumables, with 50% being green certified, and the implementation of an ORCA digester to reduce organic waste transportation. The Edmonton Convention Centre serves as a shining example of a sustainable, forward-thinking venue, integrating environmental consciousness into every aspect of its design and operation.
